WHY STAY AT THE NILE FRONT

Through our sustainable business approach, we endeavor to ensure that the Nile Front is not only a beautiful boutique hotel, but also a vehicle for Social and Environmental change! Here are 6 reasons why you should stay at the Nile Front

1. Our Ideal Location:

Our location in Jinja town allows our guests to enjoy a quiet lakeside seclusion, while remaining within walking distance of Jinja's finest eateries and places of historical interest. We are within a 5-minutes walking distance to the Old Ferry port, the Jinja Golf, Tennis & Squash Club and 15 minute walk to the source of the Nile.

2. Cozy wood Cabins:

All our cottages are uniquely built with wooden floors, walls and ceilings, and most have self catering facilities. The personal touch in the styling and furnishing makes each cottage unique and feel like a home away from home.

3. Meals to Remember:

We have partnered with Sikia cafe, a social enterprise in Jinja that employs deaf & hard of hearing persons. Through this partnership, all meals that the guests at the Nile Front have are not only delicious, but also a contribution to the employment of disadvantaged persons and persons with different abilities.

4. Our People

Aside from working with a restaurant predominantly staffed by the deaf, The Nile Front also supports local youth to express their talents and potential. With high youth unemployment rates in Uganda, many employers often prefer to hire older more experienced staff as the youth (or "millennials") are often not trusted to have the necessary skills, experience or attitude to do a good job. To the contrary, we decided to dispel these negative stereotypes and employed about 30-40 local youth in building the cottages. The majority of the team that built the Nile Front were under the age of 30. We are glad to offer recommendations and connect these talented artisans to other potential clients.

We also support local youth artists within Jinja town by displaying their art works at the premises. This enables artists, who are unable to afford renting a shop, to sale their works directly to tourists and guests at our premises and earn a decent livelihood from their talents

5. Our Planet

At the Nile Front, we are keen to ensure that whatever we do does not have negative impact on the environment. From the start, the architects were challenged to plan the buildings around the trees on the premises so as to ensure that no standing tree was cut down to make way for the buildings. All the timber used in the structure and cladding of cabins was sustainably sourced from a local forestry company with an internationally recognized certification on forestry management. While such timber is priced higher than most timber found on the local markets, we are glad to make this trade-off to ensure that we do not contribute to the deforestation of local natural forests. We have also sought to use reclaimed wood on a number of furnishings in the rooms. Look out for the textured mirror frames, and the wood log fence, all built from reclaimed wood.

6. Locally Owned

We are one of very few lakefront boutique hotels fully and independently owned by locals born and raised in Jinja town. By staying with us, our guests are directly supporting local Ugandan investors to play their role in building their town and economy. By choosing to stay at the Nile Front you would be supporting local business and also directly contributing to the success of BUBU (Buy Uganda Build Uganda) a new national policy geared towards promoting use of locally made goods, services and skills. Karibu!
